LightArt's Greenweek 2018
This week LightArt celebrated Greenweek, a three day event dedicated to promoting sustainable living and manufacturing. This year's theme was Individual + Influence + Impact.
We kicked off the week with Alex Muller from the International Living Future Institute (ILFI) discussing the Living Product Challenge, and our collective efforts for making better, healthier, restorative products in Seattle. Our SoDo neighbor, Aimee Robinson from Eco Balanza, also came by to discuss her beautiful and sustainable line of furniture.
Along with some thought-provoking discussions, we promoted using reusable mugs for our office. Encouraging staff to 'adopt' a mug to use instead of a disposable cup. As an office, we've said goodbye to disposable kitchen products–advocating staff and visitors to use reusable mugs, cups, plates, and utensils. We are stoked about it!
At LightArt, we are big fans of food! We especially love a potluck, so for the final day of Greenweek we challenged our team to bring low carbon dishes to share. This may have been the biggest hit of the week! It pushed us to reevaluate where our food comes from and the environmental impacts certain products have on our natural energy.
It was great to see all the unique (and delicious) dishes everyone brought.
Along the way we got some cool Greenweek t-shirts (made in the USA from recycled plastics, of course). We also gained a new appreciation and understanding around adopting a sustainable lifestyle–and how our everyday choices can effect change on a global scale.
